10thThuMore...Living and Working as a Professional Photographer in Namibia
Scott Hurd
Zoom
With retirement approaching, Scott walked away from his lucrative business as a motivational speaker and, using his own techniques, reinvented himself. He set up a new life in Otjiwarongo, a small town in the African bush - a totally different world - in order to work with his first love, photography. As a professional photographer in Namibia, he never knows what the next phone call will bring. He could be training anti-poaching units out in the bush, photographing aged freedom fighters or shooting a President. He could be camped out in the desert doing ID photos of Wild Horses, covering a big tribal wedding or working with rescued pangolins. One of his most unexpected and exciting projects has been to document the construction of a brand new mine, from virgin bush to the first gold bar. His knowledge of African wildlife has enabled his images to spearhead major conservation campaigns and be used in publications worldwide.
17thThuMore...Photographer in Lockdown
Simon Reed
KCC
Simon is a professional photographer primarily specialising in music and events. However, Covid and lockdowns forced change in his photography over this period and he gives an account of how he approached this huge challenge. He covers some of his first work in a home studio, including high speed water drop photography, macro, still life and some Photoshop special effects. Then when we were allowed out, some night time photography in places where he was not going to bump into anyone. This includes landscape astrophotography (star trails and a moon rise over The Needles, Isle of Wight) plus photos of London when it was deserted in the early hours. I detail how I learned the techniques for all of these and give examples.

Charlotte Bellamy
Zoom
Charlotte is a passionate creative photographer, inspired by the changing seasons, and beauty of the landscape on her doorstep, and the most mundane elements within it. She says she doesn’t need an amazing vista to get excited. On moving to The Netherlands in 2012 from the UK, she initially developed her landscape photography interests due to her lack of Dutch language skills. For the last 7 years, she has been exploring ICM and multiple exposure photography to express what she feels with all my senses through the lens. She loves the ability to express her creativity through her camera. She is a Light and Land tour leader and Guild of Photographers panel member and judge.
